Aren’t
we always looking for the ultimate place to rejuvenate
and relax? Angelenos and stressed-out travelers, look
no further. Located on the Avenue of the
Stars in the InterContinental
Los Angeles Century City, Spa InterContinental (formerly
Kara Spa) is
a harbor from the turbulence of modern life.
To
build this luxurious and unique spa, the hotel removed
the pool from its original location and spent $5 million.
The results are three independent villas, averaging
650 square feet per villa, each with its own patio and
all the comforts inside to ensure total privacy. And
since there are only three treatment rooms, the spa
is like a private club.
The Spa Concierge will greet you with their signature tea and will suggest treatments based on your individual needs. Their menu offers a variety of options, from nine different massages to facials, body and beauty treatments. Their Oriental Pearl Scrub Massage includes mother-of-pearl powder combined with an aromatherapy bath, Oriental Pearl Scrub and a massage. Other treatment packages, aptly called "Escapes," work to renew your sense of mental and physical balance: "Purity" includes a Monticelli mud wrap with a deep tissue massage and aromatherapy bath, while "A Little of Everything" includes the three most popular services—a neck and shoulder massage, express facial and manicure.

Once you have made your choice, you will be taken to your retreat where each session begins on the patio with a signature welcoming ritual to release stress. One of the villas offers a Vichy treatment, while another is dedicated to couples. Natural light and soft beige-and-green tones start your voyage to treat and repair your mind, body and spirit. Each private villa includes a private shower, infinity tub, relaxation lounge with a flat-screen television monitor, personal vanity station, and individual closets, so you will never have to leave during your treatment. In addition, traditional Thai and shiatsu massages are offered in the Zen room.
Now that you are relaxed and refreshed spiritually and want to repair yourself physically, Spa InterContinental offers manicures and pedicures. Or you might want to arrive earlier and enjoy the sauna, the fitness center, an outdoor Jacuzzi or the new pool. Of course, spa cuisine is offered. Create your own bento box to enjoy. Whether you choose to dine or not, be assured that your trip to Spa InterContinental
will be a memorable one.
