The
Grapes of Bath
Caudalie
VinoGo Body Set
by Laurie Hartzell
While
it has recently been publicized that red wine may be
good
for the body in moderation, Caudalie, a France-based
skincare company, has known this for years. Since 1993,
founders Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas have been utilizing
the anti-oxidants found in grape seeds to fight the
signs of ageing skin. Their vine-based skincare lines
are rich in minerals and grape-seed extracts, which
also help strengthen blood vessels and enhance circulation.

Caudalie’s
new line comprises take-home versions of their popular
Vinothérapie
spa products. The most portable of these is the VinoGo
body set—a collection of travel-sized treats.
Included in this gym- or vacation-friendly kit are mini
versions of their anti-ageing Hand and Nail Cream, Nourishing
Body Lotion, Sauvignon Scrub, Cabernet Shower Gel and
Gentle Conditioning Shampoo. The Hand and Nail Cream
was the most notable: the non-greasy moisturizer soaks
into skin quickly, and the resulting smooth skin lasts
all day, even after repeated hand-washings.
Don’t
fret about the grapey themes of this Vinothérapie
line—inspired by wine, the aroma is far from the
sweet candy scent that comes to mind. All of the products
in the Vinothérapie line smell like a walk through
the vineyard on a spring day. The light fragrance is
fresh yet warm, and the wine notes are complemented
by mild flowers and an aroma reminiscent of water.
In
addition to full-size versions of the products found
in the VinoGo body set, the Vinothérapie line
also includes transforming concentrates, scrubs, a fragrance,
soap and herbal tea.
