CosquilleArte, the World's First Tickle Spa, Debuts in Madrid
Tickle Your Senses
CosquilleArte's Reception Room
The world's first tickle spa recently opened in Madrid, Spain. But rather than titillating guests or making
them laugh, CosquilleArte, which roughly translates as 'tickle art,' aims to relax. This is done via a gentle
form of massage using fingertips and feathers. While tickle therapy does not apply strong pressure
to the body in order to loosen tense muscles, as in traditional massage, it is more than skin deep.
Treatments aim to engage the mind as much as the body, allowing spa goers to deeply connect with
themselves and find mind-body harmony.
CosquilleArte offers five treatment options. ExpressArte (€12) lasts only fifteen minutes, allowing
guests to choose where they would like to be tickled, such as on the head, back, arms etc. PausArte
(€25) lasts for thirty minutes, allowing enough time for guests to slow down and experience stress
relief. OlvidArte (€45) lasts for a whole hour. Only two treatment options are explicitly described as
massages: FascinArte and EmparejArte — the latter translates as 'match art.' Each of these treatments
lasts either for 30 minutes (€50) or 60 minutes (€90) and involves two massage therapists.
With FascinArte, guests are massaged by four hands, whereas EmparejArte is a couples massage. The
EmparejArte treatment, which includes a glass of Champagne, is described as a feast for all five senses. Tickle
therapy is proving so popular that CosquilleArte is planning to open spas in other Spanish cities.
