The Current Spa & Salon
Native American Rituals in Washington State
Relaxation Lounge
With the proliferation in the last decade of “Zen” spas with Asian influences, it’s refreshing to find a destination that takes its cues from Native American traditions. The Current Spa & Salon at the new The Northern Quest Resort & Casino in Spokane, WA offers Native American rituals based on the healing remedies and culture of the Kalispel Tribe, which is deeply connected to the earth and which believes that a healthy and active lifestyle brings a long and flourishing life.
The hotel, which has 250 guest rooms and 22 suites, was inspired by the tribe’s devotion to nature and compassionate perspective for its new spa, which features cedar warming rooms, experimental showers (which allow you to select your choice of music, light and sound), relaxation lounges, as well as a whirlpool with soothing waterfalls, an indoor pool and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
Treatments with native influences include Native Grains Body Exfoliation and Purification Ritual and a Juniper Sage Massage. There’s also a full-service for women. And, Current Spa has one of the few salons in Washington that has a special area for male grooming, accompanied by a hot towel shave and styling. For couples, there’s the Camas Duet Suite with a marvelous tub and shower for two, and an alluring fireplace. Native American influences extend to the design of the spa, which features a relaxing palette of natural and native American materials.
