You're in Good Hands
C.O. Bigelow Chapped Hands Cleanser

by Eliza Gano

The mani-pedi addict knows the benefits of a paraffin wax. Not only does it relax the hands and feet, but it leaves these hard-working parts feeling extremely soft and smooth. However, not everyone may have the time for a pit stop at the salon. The solution? C.O. Bigelow Chapped Hands Cleansers. Created by New York-based Bigelow Chemists, known as the oldest apothecary-pharmacy in the United States, it is a "soap free" moisturizing cleanser that liquefies on contact with the skin. Directions suggest using a generous layer when washing with warm water, but it’s better to opt for a lighter one. The combination of aloe vera and jojoba oil conditions and moisturizes while the paraffin and ceresin wax provide a sealant—that extra barrier to keep hands from succumbing to dryness. The emollient leaves a slight sheen and transforms everyday hand-washing into a spa experience. Keep by the sink at all times.
