Ladies on the lam from thigh-widening baked goods can take refuge in Cake's delightfully luxurious (yet blissfully calorie-free) beauty products. We sampled Satin Sugar, a silky powder that can be smoothed over the skin or sprinkled onto lanky locks. While some dessert "flavored" products have a sickeningly saccharine odor, the subtle scent of Cake’s talc-free powder is reminiscent of freshly baked lemon cookies, and the delicate aroma makes over-application virtually impossible.
Like the dry shampoos of the '60s, the powder can be massaged into the root area to absorb excess oil and keep hair looking fresh between showers. Alternately, application to clean hair combined with a shot or two of hairspray creates incredible body. We loved how soft and clean our skin felt after sprinkling the calendula and chamomile-infused powder on, and the outdated process of using a scented powder feels incredibly retro and indulgent, like part of a Vargas girl's nightly beauty regimen. And who doesn't enjoy a little decadence now and then?
