Kurotel Longevity Center in Gramado, a mountain resort in southern Brazil, is a wellness destination founded by Dr. Luis Carlos Silveira and his wife Neusa about 30 years ago; today, two daughters have joined the family commitment to good health. Kurotel specializes in preventive medicine and has long been considered one of the world’s best weight loss destinations. Guests are drawn for a variety of reasons: for medical assessments, to detox from addiction, for weight loss and sleep enhancement, to simply relax or to recover after cosmetic surgery (available at a nearby clinic). State-of-the art medical tests are available to determine colon and cardiovascular risks and to assess bone density, hormone levels, collagen, body temperature, etc. Integral to the week-long “kur” are three farm-fresh meals and snacks, use of pools and facilities and daily exercises from woodland walks to gymnastics and the Kneipp water walk. This walk on smooth stones features changing water temperatures (warm to cool) to enhance circulation, kidney function and overall wellness.
