Fairmont Mayakoba Hotel Review: Set along the pristine white beaches of the Riviera Maya on the Yucatan Peninsula, the Fairmont Mayakoba stands in front of the world’s second largest coral reef. The 435 rooms and suites are designed to give guests the atmosphere of an airy Mexican home and are fitted with comfortable Fairmont signature beds, a large soaking tub and Bose audio systems among other amenities. Las Brisas, the resort’s signature restaurant offers an international and eclectic dining experience; the Sashumi Tuna Trio, Pacific Yellow fin tuna prepared in three different ways, is the chef’s pick here. Guests can enjoy a drink either the El Lobby bar, or while relaxing in the hotel’s main pool at the Aqua Pool Bar. The 37,000-square-foot Willow Stream spa at the resort, which offers a variety of therapeutic treatments derived from local tradition and flora, offers guests the chance to experience uniquely Mayan treatments such as the Cha Chac Rain Ritual, inspired by the Mayan rain ritual. An 18-hole golf course, El Camaleon, designed by Greg Norman is located on site, should guests be tempted to play a round of golf.
