 This is a lively and original hotel, full of bold, bright colors and good-looking furnishings. At the same time it's hung onto the best of its original features, such as its exterior shell and ornate Art Deco staircase in the lobby. This cheerful property is nestled into the theater district and includes its own Broadway-musical-sized performance space, the Palace Theater. City Hall and the Illinois State Building are across the way. The housekeeping in the elevators and hallways was not top-drawer here, although the accommodations seemed immaculate. The 483 guest rooms feature standards such as ironing boards and extras like data ports and CD players. The suites have Jacuzzi bathtubs. With its street-side 312 Chicago restaurant and Encore lounge, the hotel is a welcome and warm addition to the downtown scene. |
