The Peninsula Shanghai Hotel Review: Standing tall above the shores of the Huangpu River, this hotel was inspired by the Art Deco period when Shanghai was known as Paris of the East. All spacious rooms feature suite-like accommodations with privacy doors at the entrance into the bedroom. The Peninsula Spa by Espa offers Oriental, Ayurvedic and European therapy techniques, while a handful of eclectic restaurants, including the Rooftop, cater to foodies. Space for special events and meetings is available, and a house boutique sells the Peninsula’s line of body products, bees wax candles and cookbooks. The hotel overlooks Shanghai’s famous Bund district and is within walking distance of the former British Consulate gardens.
