Brickyard Retreat at Mutianyu Great Wall Hotel Review: For a back-to-nature experience that doesn't require the sacrifice of comfort, Brickyard Retreat at Mutianyu Great Wall gets you as close as possible just short of sleeping outside. Gaze at panoramic Great Wall, mountain and sky views through story-and-a-half-high window walls and skylights or from your own private terrace. Although rooms do not have phones or TVs, they do include other contemporary comforts such as Wi-Fi, iPod docking stations and state-of-the-art bathroom fixtures. There are plenty of complimentary goodies, including hand-woven grass slippers, soft drinks, coffee and tea with homemade cookies and a hearty country breakfast in the Lodge. As well, guests enjoy access to the exercise room, spa garden and Jacuzzi terrace. The spa offers Chinese-style treatments and includes the Gold Suite, featuring a private outdoor courtyard with a shower. Guests can dine at Brickyard from the à la carte menu or at a local restaurant, including The Schoolhouse or Xiaolumian, both owned by the same company as the hotel. The hotel provides complimentary transport to the surrounding four villages and the Great Wall.
