Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Review: When guests enter the Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel’s stunning sixteen-meter-high lobby --- with its Chinese character-lined walls telling a 5,000-year-old “Thousand Character Essay” --- they will feel as if they’ve stepped into an ancient Chinese history lesson. But the modern world is close at hand, for in this same lobby guests can grab a pre-loaded iPod nano for information in English and Mandarin about the artwork on the walls, which features items from one of the biggest private art collections in China. Beyond the hotel's impressive entrance, guests will find a range of amenities and activities, including an exclusive dining experience at Arte Café and Lounge that combines culinary theater and culture. Additional dining and drinking include the Grill Room for Japanese and Australian prime steaks, J-Mix for authentic Japanese fare and sushi, Shang-High Cuisine for traditional and authentic regional Chinese food, and the Lobby Lounge for cocktails and a social hour. This hotel is home to Talise Spa, where personalized treatments accommodate guests seeking everything from traditional Oriental healing to Middle Eastern products in a peaceful atmosphere. As well, the fitness center is outfitted with Technogym equipment, a hot yoga area, saunas, ice and fire rooms, traditional hot stone baths and iPod nanos pre-loaded with upbeat workout music. Accommodations come in a wide variety of standard guest rooms and suites, with the crown jewel being the Residence Suite, which features a ten-place dining table and fully equipped kitchen. All guest rooms come with dark wood furnishings, day sofas, modern Chinese art, complimentary Internet, 42-inch HD LCD TVs, fast-fill deep-soaking tubs, rain showers, L’Occitane bath products, Chinese tea sets, mini-bars and Illy coffee makers. The hotel offers a wide variety of meeting spaces, including two large ballrooms, seven meeting rooms, an outdoor Infinity Garden space, and the outdoor Wuji Plaza --- all of which are outfitted with drop-down screens and LCD projectors, surround sound systems and high-speed Internet access.
