Mandarin Oriental, Prague Hotel Review

: Originally a Dominican monastery with roots dating back to the 14th century, the Mandarin Oriental, Prague, is located in Mala Strana, the city’s oldest quarter and historical center. Set in a picturesque neighborhood of cobblestone piazzas, palaces and parks, the property, with 99 rooms and suites, boasts of a plethora of historical artifacts such as vaulted ceilings, stone doorways and the remains of a former Gothic church (now lit and displayed under a glass floor in the hotel’s spa). The rooms combine artwork by contemporary Czech and German artists and seven centuries worth of architecture---from Gothic to Renaissance to Baroque---combined with the latest technology, such as high resolution LCD TV’s and high speed Internet access. Guest can dine at the Essensia restaurant, which serves contemporary European and Asian cuisine, or can enjoy a glass of wine from the hotel’s wine cellar, complete with a medieval well. The Spa offers guests a unique ambience with its setting in a former Renaissance church. Adjoining the Czech Museum of Music, and steps away from major sights such as St. Nicholas’ Cathedral and Charles Bridge, the Mandarin Oriental truly finds itself in the heart of historic Prague.
