 This property has been buzzing since its May 1999 opening. With gondoliers singing on its Grand Canal, the 63-acre resort emulates the romance, charm and festival-like atmosphere of old Venice. It is a miniature city complete with replicated statuary, hand-painted frescoed ceilings and tributes to familiar Venetian landmarks. The suites boast marble foyers, wrought-iron railings, sunken living rooms and spacious Italian marble bathrooms. The plush, canopy-draped bedrooms feature Venetian floral armoires. The 2003 opening of the concierge-level Venezia Tower added 1,013 elegant suites, accessible by high-speed elevator from a separate check-in counter. Guests can enjoy the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum and the luxury boutiques of the Grand Canal Shoppes, or pamper themselves at The Canyon Ranch Spa, which offers an appealing menu of deluxe treatments. For dining, options include restaurants by renowned chefs such as Wolfgang Puck, Mario Batali, Joachim Splichal and Emeril Lagasse.
