Charlotte Street Hotel Review: This quirky boutique hotel is part of the Firmdale group, owned by Tim and Kit Kemp, who have an impressive track record with The Soho Hotel, Haymarket and New York's Crosby Street Hotel, to name a few. Designer Kit has a distinctive style, but each new venture gives her scope for fresh ideas. The inspiration for wall coverings here, for example, has come from the Bloomsbury set, and in keeping with the tone at the Covent Garden Hotel, she has made imaginative use of hand-embroidered fabrics and her love of rich wood paneling. Rooms feature soft pastels, snug duvets and pretty drapes, and all come well-equipped with the latest technology, including high-speed wireless Internet access, flat screen TVs and DVD/CD players. Bathrooms are beautifully designed in granite and oak, and most have separate walk-in showers, two basins and TVs above the baths. Full business services are available, and guests may work out in a state-of-the-art gym. There is a brasserie, bar and a gorgeous leather-seated private screening room for 75 guests (most often Soho's media trendies).
