Approximately $35 million has been quietly poured into renovations at this Four Seasons-managed hotel. Accommodations in the original Wilshire Wing, and rooms and suites in the Beverly Wing (added to the hotel in 1971) have been reconstructed. The lobby of this stately hotel, a landmark in Beverly Hills since 1928, is outfitted like a Regency/Directoire-era dream, with a trove of gorgeous antiques, woods, marbles and glass. The 395 guest rooms and suites feature expansive marble bathrooms with deep-soaking tubs, silky bed linens, period furniture and double-glazed windows to obviate any street noise. Wolfgang Puck has conspired with architect Richard Meier to create CUT and sidebar, a contemporary steakhouse and sexy lounge. The bar is usually so crowded after work (it attracts agents and clients from the William Morris Agency next door), that it's hard to find a seat. In addition, The Blvd serves excellent American cuisine in an opulent setting. Adjoining the state-of-the-art fitness center, the newly expanded spa is the most comprehensive for a hotel in Beverly Hills. It tenders all the usual beauty treatments, as well as offerings like an Oshadi clay body wrap. Unequivocally one of the best hotels in the city, it's located within striking distance of Rodeo Drive shopping. |
