Massive in size and in raucous reputation, this former Hyatt offers a sizzling hotel experience to touring rock bands, celebrities and tourists alike. This urban property is located on the Sunset Strip, steps away from The Comedy Store and the House of Blues. Led Zeppelin partied hearty here on the 11th floor while on tour, helping it to earn the nickname Riot House or Riot Hyatt. After a substantial redesign, the first ANdAZ in the U.S. features 257 spacious guestrooms. Many of the rooms offer floor to ceiling windows that provide interesting city views day and night, although street noise is discernible. There are mirrors everywhere in the rooms’ stark, simple but modern design, but no paintings. Instead of waiting in line at a front desk, guests are greeted by employees armed with laptops and glasses of wine in Riedel stemware, making check-in a pleasure. Room prices cover virtually all amenities, including local calls, Wi-Fi, and even non-alcoholic beverages and snacks in the minibar, although limited 24-hour room service is available for those desiring more sustenance. Free espresso and pastries are offered mornings at reception. RH, the restaurant, attracts more than hotel guests with its fine cuisine, unique look and menu, and architecture. The hotel's hotspot is the rooftop pool, which will continue to be a gathering place for those in the know.
