Best Western Hotel Majestic Review: Located directly across from the National Palace in Mexico City's central square, the Best Western Hotel Majestic occupies one of the most spectacular pieces of real estate in the city. This seven-story colonial building was remodeled in the early twentieth-century, and today, the hotel retains much of its original charm. A few ill-placed modern details detract from the otherwise ornate, tiled lobby, and the structure is a bit too dimly lit to fully admire its assets. Even so, this historic hotel's main selling point is the breathtaking views of the National Cathedral and Zocalo square, along with the opportunity to sleep within one of the city's most historic buildings. Rooms are comfortable, if a bit dated when compared with other hotels in the same price range. Those with windows on the Zocalo should also be prepared for street noise---it can be a particular ruckus if you happen to be in town during a national holiday or a public festival. The seventh-floor restaurant is open to the public, and offers decent Mexican dishes and a beautiful view overlooking the Zocalo. The downstairs conference rooms meet the bare minimum requirements; however, for a special event, it is a better bet to rent the private room on the terrace, which overlooks the surroundings.
