 This hotel is part of the boutique group that includes The Franklin. Like its counterpart, it is a charmer that appeals to the fashion crowd. It's located near The Morgan Library and the Fashion District. The lobby looks like a gorgeous, modern furniture showroom, and a granite staircase leads to a mezzanine level lounge, where cocktails and light Nouveau American dishes are available (as is 24-hour room service). A breakfast pantry is also on offer. The 185 rooms are sleek and modern. They contain every conceivable amenity, including Egyptian cotton linens, Aveda bath products, plasma screen TVs and ergonomic desk chairs. Over ten percent have landscaped terraces with gorgeous views, and room 411 boasts Veranda Four One One, an 800-square-foot terrace with a retractable remote control awning that can accommodate events for up to forty. The terrace's English garden-style décor---scattered lounge areas, candelabras, sconces, candle lanterns, ivy and flowers---can be attributed to interior designer Annette Jaffe. |
