Room at Royal Palms Resort & Spa, Phoenix, AZLocated at the south slope of Camelback Mountain, midway between the Biltmore Fashion Park and Old Town Scottsdale, this boutique resort is so luxurious and tastefully designed that it makes you feel as if you've been dropped into the middle of an Architectural Digest photo shoot. The grounds are landscaped with mature palms, citrus trees and fountains that surround Spanish mission-style casitas, and the overall impression is one of unmitigated romance. Originally built in the 1920s as the private winter residence for Cunard steamship executive Delos Cook, it is decorated with antiques and treasures from his world travels. Offering an intimate scale and subtle beauty, it captures an elegance rarely found these days. A dramatic 2007 renovation has created a new enclave of 70 rooms, boasting private balconies and spectacular mountain views that surround the intimate Montavista. This romantic Mediterranean-style courtyard encloses a tiered garden, reflecting pools and fireplaces. Also on site is the Alvadora Spa, offering traditional treatments, a watsu massage pool and water therapy. Guests will be delighted with 20,000 square feet of meeting space and attendant facilities such as banquet and photography services. Offering fine Mediterranean fare, T. Cook's nestles within a den of rich earthen colors, high-vaulted ceilings and panoramic views.
