Room at Castle Hill Inn & Resort, Newport, RIViews of Narragansett Bay dominate this 40-acre property. Whether you're taking a meal in one of the four dining rooms or attending a wedding reception on the Chalet Terrace, you will enjoy beautiful water vistas. The hotel is busiest from June through October and is popular for wedding ceremonies and honeymoons. This historic property was built in 1874 as a summer home for Harvard marine biologist Alexander Agassiz. The variety of accommodations includes nine guest rooms in the main Agassiz Mansion. These bedrooms are decorated in cozy B&B style. They are ornate (and at times regal) without being overly fussy. Additional lodgings include Harbor House Rooms, Beach House Rooms, The Chalet and The Turret Suite. The latter is a two-story sanctuary outfitted with mahogany floors, silk wall coverings and a bathtub that overlooks the bay. High-powered binoculars are provided for locating the 12 lighthouses in the area. The hotel's wine list is a continuous Wine Spectator award winner.
