 Opened in 1910 by a son of President Ulysses S. Grant, this revered Starwood Luxury Collection site has since experienced a series of renovations that have revived the historic ambience and added contemporary amenities. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the old-but-new hotel features 270 guest rooms, 47 suites, two bi-level penthouse suites, an 11th floor technology penthouse and in-room spa services. Rooms are smaller than average and decorated with formal Edwardian-style, mahogany furniture; suites come with fireplaces and Jacuzzi tubs. The opulent lobby glitters with crystal chandeliers, marble floors and velvet lounge couches. Guests can easily walk to the historic Gaslamp Quarter, Horton Plaza, Petco Park for a Padres game or stay on site and dine at the classically updated, club-like Grant Grill. |
