It's just a twenty-mile drive south of Santa Fe to reach the Galisteo Inn, which anchors the tiny village of Galisteo, but this tranquil, secluded inn with a stellar restaurant feels worlds away. Towering cottonwood trees shade this historic compound with eleven artfully decorated rooms and suites, which span a wide range of prices. At the high-end, there are three suites with spacious sitting areas; at the other end of the spectrum, there are a couple of cozy, simple rooms that share a bathroom and are perfect for economy-minded visitors. All rooms have Wi-Fi and fancy EO-brand bath amenities, and many have fireplaces (all but one has satellite TV). Rooms are tastefully appointed with a chic, almost minimalist Southwestern flare---most have beamed ceilings, and the walls in all of them are painted in warm hues. Included in the rates is a simple but tasty breakfast buffet each morning. The property offers horseback rides, and there's also a small pool with hot tub and indoor sauna. The real jewel here is the world-class restaurant, La Mancha, which serves outstanding contemporary Southwestern fare. |
