| This lodging opened in 1918 and carries the distinction of being the longest continually operating hotel in the city. It provides guests with extraordinary views and service, and among its guests are actors in town to perform in nearby theaters. It also attracts businessmen and sightseers who appreciate reasonable rates in a premier location. One highlight of a stay here are cocktails or light fare at the Sky Terrace, located on the 12th and top floor of the hotel. This venue offers a spectacular look at the White House and downtown monuments. The lobby takes up two floors and features crystal chandeliers, marble floors and intricate carved molding. Guest rooms are on the small side but are elegant with regal décor, including historical prints. Bathrooms are done in marble. Rooms facing the White House and Pennsylvania Avenue are preferred for their size and views. There is an on-site fitness center and sauna. |
