 Located five minutes from the smaller Kapalua airport and about an hour from the larger Kahului airport, lies The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua. This luxurious 445-room property perched on a knoll overlooking the splendid D.T. Fleming Beach underwent a multi-million renovation in 2007, adding residential suites. Rooms now feature all new furnishings, dark-wood floors, flat screen televisions, and marble bathrooms. Executive chef John Zaner presides over six restaurants offering diverse and award-winning cuisine. Among them, The Banyan Tree serves contemporary Hawaii Regional Cuisine with an emphasis on fresh fish and area produce. Also on site is an ancient Hawaiian burial ground called Honokohua which was discovered during the original construction in 1991 and has since been preserved and contains over 900 ancient Hawaiian burial sites. A fantastic new spa opened in early 2008 and features 17,500 square-feet of bliss. The Ritz Kids children's program, tennis and scuba diving, the celebration of the arts events and outstanding packages are all good excuses to escape to this elegant place. Guests and visitors can attend a weekly cultural program that will bring them in touch with Hawaiian values, traditional herbal medicines and Hawaiian art.
