| This was the first hotel built in the Wailea resort nearly two decades ago, originally the Maui Inter-Continental Resort, and it is the latest to be renovated. The $25-million face-lift included a complete remodeling of all guest rooms, a spa and fitness center, and the new American-style restaurant, Hula Moons and the Mele Mele Lounge. There's still a distinct sense of openness found here that you won't encounter at the other nearby resorts; you can wander about the manicured grounds quite a while, without running into another tourist. As at many of the Wailea/Makena resorts, there's much to do---an assortment of golf courses, a tennis complex, shopping at the nearby Shops at Wailea, three swimming pools with the poolside Kumu Bar & Grill, a children's program and a good oceanfront luau four nights a week. The Mandara Spa features four deluxe treatment suites in a tropical garden setting with private lanais and soaking pools. Massage treatments are offered in open-air pavilions by the ocean, or in three treatment rooms. A full-service beauty salon is located in the spa. |
