Most recently known as the Beverly Carlton, this complex of buildings has been everything from apartments (Marilyn Monroe lived here) to a retirement facility. In 1998, Kor Hotel Group took it over and did a complete renovation, creating a hip retro-fifties-style hotel. Most of the 88 guestrooms and suites, including two penthouses, face the courtyard's vintage hourglass pool; there's a conference room that seats up to 75 and can include both catering and full secretarial services. Onsite dining venue, Oliverio, serves modern cuisine in a casual pool patio atmosphere. The lobby echoes the restaurant's décor with geometric lines and plenty of plastic and leather, while similarly appointed guestrooms are done in gray, lavender and black. Despite the retro design, amenities are fully up-to-date with high-speed Internet in premium rooms, modem access in standards rooms and fax machines, CD players and VCRs in all. Active guests will appreciate the fitness center, and those who want to unwind can take advantage of in-room massages and spa treatments. |
