Located on the west end of Hollywood Boulevard's Walk of Fame, across from the Chinese Theater and just a block from the splashy Hollywood and Highland shopping complex, this 1927 building has undergone quite a renaissance. Ever since a 2005 revamp by the Thompson Hotel Group, Young Hollywood once again gathers. Part of the property-wide renovations include the 2006 remodeling of the Blossom Room, site of the very first Academy Awards in 1929. Among the 300 accommodations are 60 refurbished cabana rooms. CD and DVD players along with high-speed Internet access are included. Dakota steakhouse, subdued and beautifully designed, is one of the best restaurants in the city, and you can order up a great burger at the hotel's diner-like 25 Degrees. Don't be surprised by the skimpy suits, flowing liquor and—on our visit, a golden basketball—around the pool. Sadly, the underwater mural at the bottom of the pool is gone. But if you're looking for a scene, this is the place. |
