| This rather bland hotel is as close to LAX as it gets---only one-fifth of a mile from the runways. Jets are literally landing and taking off just outside the windows. Perhaps its best attribute is its excellent views of the control tower and the ever-changing colored light pillars that were installed along Century Boulevard for the 2000 National Democratic Convention. The hotel’s hundreds of guest rooms and suites are rather spacious and comfortable, and have extra soundproofing to repel the noise of takeoffs and landings, which can be viewed overhead as you relax by the pool. The lobby is a pleasant wood-paneled space that leads to the Concorde Lounge. Guests can also enjoy the Palmira Bar and Grille, a steakhouse, or take in 360 degree views at the Top of the Radisson Sky Bar and Executive Lounge. The new Ocean Express shuttle offers free transportation to the Manhattan Beach pier. |
