This discreet hotel, which is related to the venerable Peninsula in Hong Kong, is elegant without being stuffy. It boasts lovely grounds and near flawless service and is arguably one of Southern California’s most luxurious properties. The low-key ambience attracts the world’s movers and shakers, including royalty, Hollywood’s A-list, CEOs and rock stars. Guest rooms and extensive suites are equipped with such treats as down comforters, Frette linens, fireplaces, spas and private terraces with tasteful Beverly Hills views. The Belvedere restaurant serves elegant Asian-influenced contemporary cuisine in a hushed, formal setting and is a favorite with CAA agents who wander over from next door for a bout of power dining. This same crew also packs the Club Bar, which many say is ground zero for wheeling and dealing in Beverly Hills. A $7 million renovation was completed in 2006 to meet the spa’s growing popularity, and the facility now includes a couples treatment room, relaxation space (overlooking the Hollywood Hills) and Shiffa Precious Gems Treatments, since diamonds are your skin’s best friend. The rooftop lap pool, with private poolside cabanas, is a tasteful enclave in the middle of the city. When a guest needs a lift to Tiffany’s, one of the house Rolls-Royces will drop him or her off. |
