| This 1800s, train station-themed resort opened in June 1988 with 406 rooms, which were followed by a 1,100-room tower in the fall of 1993. Perhaps the most notable feature of this 28-acre, $60-million property is the Victorian-era steam locomotive that shuttles guests from the vast parking lot to the main entrance of the bustling 30,000-square-foot casino. The Victorian-themed rooms are decorated with gleaming brass and rich wood tones. Many have river and panoramic mountain views. On-premises attractions include the train-shaped swimming pool and spa, a video arcade, American Heroes Museum of Memories and the WOW (Wondrous, Outrageous and Wacky) Store for souvenirs at bargain prices. Among restaurants are the popular Steakhouse, Carnegie’s 24-Hour Dining Car, and Under the Stairs Café, which is known for its one-pound chocolate éclairs. Adults-only amenities include the Gamblers Tower and pool hours reserved for visitors over 21. For private parties, the Pavilion seats up to 1,000. As of July 2007 renovations at a cost of $11 million are now complete. Guests will enjoy an enhanced experience in the rooms and restaurant and with slots and entertainment. |
