Designed by legendary architect Henry Hohauser in 1938, this four-story landmark hotel was completely renovated at the turn of the millennium. It kept intact its original Art Deco style while incorporating modern amenities. The spacious lobby still features an original hand-painted mural depicting scenes of Seminole Indians and the early Florida Everglades. There are 60 elegant guest rooms in the main building and 14 suites off the adjoining garden courtyard. Luxury is evidenced by the russet-hued upholstered chairs, custom-made carpeting, marble baths and mahogany entertainment units. The suites overlook the garden courtyard and have Jacuzzis and wet bars. Both the lobby and the rooms are painted and decorated in soft coral tones. The hotel has no restaurant, but it does serve complimentary continental breakfast daily. The on-site House Lounge serves up a wide variety of domestic and import liquors. Options for gourmet cuisine abound right outside its doors. |
