 Just north of the Art Deco district, this renovated 14-story European-style hotel was built in 1948 and sits directly on the beach. The 230 spacious guest rooms all offer colorful, tropical décor and include refrigerators, coffee makers, cable TV, working desk, data ports, wireless Internet and in-room safes. Many rooms also have views of the Atlantic Ocean or the Intracoastal Waterway. Luxury suites have separate sitting rooms, dining areas and full kitchens. Celebrated Chef Bennie Banks oversees the hotel's Terrace Room Restaurant with his culinary adventures in French, Mexican, Italian and Caribbean cuisine. For more casual refreshment, guests can also repair to the hotel's Emerald Lounge, which opens from 5:30 every evening, or stop by the Snack Bar which offers breakfasts during morning hours and light lunch or afternoon snacks.
