| This hotel boasts the characteristic French Quarter facade, with cast-iron, wraparound galleries, a bit of exposed brick and floor-to-ceiling sash windows. The front desk staff is friendly and well-informed. The bottom line: while not exciting, the accommodations are dependable and the price is right. Many of the rooms are furnished with attractive antique reproductions, with fabrics and carpeting in dark colors. Some rooms are connected to the galleries, which are pleasant spots to relax on balmy days. Beyond the lobby is a pool, adjacent to a courtyard planted with tropical greenery. Room service is available, and the in-house restaurant and bar, called Hillery's 827 ½ Toulouse, is handy for breakfast and nightcaps. Modest-sized meeting or party rooms can be provided, and the front-desk staff is friendly and well informed. The bottom line: While not exciting, it's reliable and the price is right. |
