| Having moved past the ravages of Hurricane Katrina, the hotel is scheduled to reopen on March 1, 2007. Situated on a side street in the Central Business District between Canal and Poydras Streets, this hotel is sometimes forgotten among the neighborhood's upscale lodgings. Its Old World charms such as French antiques and gilt-framed paintings convey a bit of New Orleans' European heritage. This is a good choice for both business and pleasure. The hotel is moderate in size, with 98 guestrooms and suites. The standard rooms, like so many in the neighborhood's hotels, are not lavish when it comes to space. But they're handsomely done up with wood armoires, overstuffed chairs and marble baths; as well, they feature high-speed WiFi. Business travelers' needs are met with in-room faxes, data ports and good working space. There are meeting rooms if needed. Besides an excellent rooftop sun deck and 24-hour fitness center with a pool and Jacuzzi, Get Fit Kits are available for those who prefer to work out in their rooms. The Sweet Ginger restaurant specializes in pan-Asian cuisine. |
