This 49-story tower is one of the city's tallest buildings. It underwent a $25-million renovation in 2000, converting the 200 Corporate Club rooms on the 42nd floor into a controlled access mini-hotel with extras such as its own lounge, breakfast and cocktail hour, and free faxes and laptop hookups. The hotel sits on Canal Street across from the French Quarter. The vast sunken lobby with its huge sofas and body-hugging chairs acts as a combination lounge and sitting room. Among the 1,110 guest rooms are 53 suites and 40 handicap-accessible accommodations. All are decorated in an understated blend of traditional and contemporary styles done in subdued brown tones. Wide windows provide sweeping views of the French Quarter and the Mississippi River. Services include a pool, fitness center, business center, restaurant and bar. |
