 Stepping into the Shoreham from this busy midtown street is like retreating to an urban oasis. Stainless steel, marble, frosted-glass panels and a minimalist design make the Shoreham stand out from the other traditional hotels in the neighborhood. The bar follows the same slick feel, its modular lime colored seats and translucent 'living glass' walls (layers of crumped silk that line sheets of glass) provide a restful sanctuary. Here, you can sip a signature "I Shoreham Happy" martini and order a few small bites from the amuse menu, a fusion of Mediterranean, African, Asian and Latin cuisine. Try the chickpea fries and mini American Wagyu beef burgers and chill to lounge sounds. Check-in includes a complimentary glass of Champagne, and a walk through the interactive video art in the lobby. You'll forgive the tiny elevators once you set foot inside your room. There are 177, all recently renovated, all with complimentary WiFi access. Suites are spacious and chic with groovy retro furnishings. The highlight: A massage chair you may never get out of. Other amenities include flat screen televisions, customized mini bars upon request and 300-count down comforters. Beds are back-lit with artful headboards of flower photographs blown up and slipped behind glass. Fresh-cut flowers add just enough color to brighten up the spare bathroom stylings. Junior Spa Suites were added to the hotel recently and feature oversized bathrooms with Jacuzzi bathtubs. And---though complimentary breakfast is not offered, you'll love access to the Shoreham's 24-hour self-service coffee bar. |
