Across from Grand Central this is the second New York City hotel of the Irish Fitzpatrick group and offers a warm, comfortable and personal feel. There are only 155 rooms with stylish furnishings and a full range of amenities. All have beautifully tented canopy treatments, fashioned from rich fabrics, above the bed. The bathrobes are Irish and so are the linens and towels. Furnished elegantly with antique reproductions, all rooms are also outfitted with dual-line telephone with data port and fax machine. The penthouse suite, with fireplace and wraparound outdoor terrace, is named after Liam Neeson and has portraits of the Irish actor. At the back of the lobby, the Wheeltapper Pub recalls the many Irish workers who built America's railroads although most of the artifacts---signals and signal cabin levers---come from Ireland itself. The Wheeltapper is popular for its substantial Irish breakfasts and other pub grub. |
