 Solo women travelers and families appreciate this hotel operated by the Calvary Baptist Church. The location is excellent: across from Carnegie Hall and near Midtown sights and Central Park. The public spaces have been refurbished recently. Continental breakfast is included. The 204 rooms range from upgraded and functional to slightly faded. Since the hotel was originally conceived and built as living quarters, its rooms are larger than most. This means great walk-in closets. Many also have pantries with refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers and sinks. The suites all contain fax machines, and corporate rooms have dual-line speaker phones. Amenities include a concierge and room service from five nearby restaurants, each serving a different ethnic cuisine. Discounted rates are offered to guests at the nearby New York Health and Racquet Club and Spa. Safety is ensured as there is only one entrance and the doors close at 1 a.m. Guests must identify themselves to security/front desk personnel thereafter. |
