| While it might seem strange for a boutique hotel to be operated by a corporate giant, in this case Starwood does a decent job. Located a few blocks south of Grand Central in Murray Hill, this property offers a quiet, intimate alternative to the nearby stadium-sized resting points. It resides in a handsome building dating to 1923 and totally renovated in 1997. The lobby is tasteful and conventional; the service is friendly and competent. The hotel has only 146 accommodations, all of which are corporate club rooms offering a notable array of amenities: data ports, free local calls, printer/fax/copiers, ergonomic swivel chairs, Bose wave radios ... the list goes on and on. You'll even enjoy complimentary USA Today and Wall Street Journal. Suites include cell phones. Complimentary breakfast and afternoon hors d'oeuvres are served in the Club Lounge.
