Ah, memories. William Randolph Hearst built this hotel in 1926. Since then, Cary Grant lived here in a suite of his own for 12 years. The Beatles rested their heads here, too. Nowadays, the Sixth Avenue location is convenient for visiting the Theater District, Fifth Avenue shopping and other Midtown sights. Each of the large 426 rooms and suites has a spacious closet, marble bathroom and double windows to filter out the street noise. They also have dual-line telephones with data ports and fax. Murals on 54, the refurbished dining room, features continental cuisine with international influences. Its fresh design accentuates the historic murals by Dean Cornwell, who was commissioned to paint the original restaurant. Randolph’s, a newly expanded restaurant and lounge, is designed more like a living room than a bar and has large windows overlooking Avenue of the Americas. This hotel has always been carefully maintained, tastefully furnished and courteously staffed. |
