It’s not a great distance from respected, Midtown hotel to updated, high-tech wonder zone: All it takes is good planning, a few million dollars and the wherewithal to do it. Recent happenings here include such a transformation. The once-traditional lobby now imparts a vaguely futuristic feel with mood lighting, minimalist furniture and framed photography. Despite the modern and polished façade, the hotel has a surprisingly comfortable feel—no doubt helped by its relatively small size of 219 rooms and three suites. The renovation took in downstairs and up, so you’ll wake up in a space capsule of a room, albeit grounded and welcoming. Indulgences include marble-accented bathrooms, a morning copy of USA Today, and bagels and coffee. Replete with fireplace, the Twist Lounge provides a cozy spot to unwind. |
