Taking the hostel concept and cleaning it up, this property removes the rowdiness and adds privacy and a little style. Midtown is hardly where you'd expect to find gatherings of students and budget-minded tourists, but this place draws them in. What you give up in room-size you gain in value. This is sort of a poor-man's W hotel, or an ultra-hip monastery. All 200 rooms are decorated in a modern style using natural hues and earthy textures. They are nicely equipped with telephones with voice mail and Internet access, as well as color cable TV. Hip extras include the independently operated Opia, a Mediterranean bistro, and the inaugural Reaction Kenneth Cole store. |
