This hotel is situated next to the extravagantly neo-gothic church of Saint Mary the Virgin and half a block from Times Square. It’s housed in a 1928 building, but don’t expect lots of character. For such reasonable rates, the staff is professional and surprisingly helpful, cheerfully answering any questions you might have about the hotel or the city. The 80 rooms were totally refurbished at the beginning of the new millennium. Expect standard perks such as cable TV, private bathrooms and daily maid service. Unless you absolutely must have a view of 46th Street, which isn’t anything spectacular, ask for a room in the back. The single-paned windows mean a lot of street noise. |
