 This Midtown hotel doesn’t have the chain’s signature red roof, but it is located two blocks from New York’s most famous landmark: the Empire State Building. The staff is friendly, and in the lobby guests can take advantage of the concierge desk. Internet access is also available in the narrow, but nicely adorned, entrance area. A second-floor bar overlooks this small space. The 171 rooms have a slight hint of the country about their décor—at least enough to make them feel homey and comfortable.
