| High above Oregon’s rugged beach, this 750-acre resort is nestled in the forest. The landscape is sublime, and the lodge fits beautifully into the dramatic setting. It is warm with gleaming cedar, and the décor reflects Native American art. Golfers abound, drawn by the 18-hole Scottish-style links course. There is also a fair amount of conference activity, as well as tourist crowds drawn by whale watching, wine drinking and three miles of beach. The ambiance is casual and woodsy, very reflective of the state’s spirit. This is tops for a beach resort. All 205 units have a fireplace and balcony that overlooks the beach, forest or golf course. The heated indoor pool is popular with kids and golf widows. One of the nicest treats is the excellent restaurant that specializes in dishes made with regional ingredients, backed by the power of a 10,000-bottle wine cellar. The ultimate Salishan moment?
