 One of the many motels within a block or so of the waterfront, harbor and beach, the quality Casa Del Mar offers a continental breakfast buffet and wine and cheese in the early evening. This quintessential Santa Barbara retreat, with its white stucco walls, red tiled roofs and lush gardens, is in an outstanding location. But while guests are only a hop, skip and a jump away from the beach, the rooms, unfortunately, don't have ocean views. Guestroom décor features a typical uninspired motel motif, but kitchenettes in some add hominess. The lack of air-conditioning can be stifling, however. An extended-stay cottage, which can be rented by the week or month, has a full kitchen as well as separate living and sleeping rooms. In-room massages and high-speed Internet can be arranged, and discount spa and golf packages are available. Outside, a heated Jacuzzi helps guests relax. As with many Santa Barbara motels, the rates are lower in winter. Pets are welcome (maximum one large or two small pets) for an additional $10 per night each. |
