Formerly known as the Tiffany Inn, this historic property is now part of Country House Inns, which also owns the nearby Upham Hotel. The three-story Victorian house, built in 1898 and opened as a bed-and-breakfast in 1984, has seven guestrooms and suites furnished in antiques; each has a private bathroom and telephone. Accommodations manage to pull off an Old World ambience without being overly frilly or loud. While no room is alike, all have a classic style with unique architectural details, and most have fireplaces and whirlpool tubs. Romantics might consider the penthouse suite with fireplace, whirlpool tub and skyline view or the honeymoon suite with fireplace, sunken whirlpool tub and private entrance off the rose garden. The garden is available for weddings, receptions and events for up to 40 people. Guests can mingle while enjoying full breakfast and evening wine and hors d'oeurves service in the garden or while sitting by the fire in the living room. There's a two-night minimum stay on weekends. The inn is within strolling distance of popular State Street. |
