| Europe meets Miami and then goes south-of-the-border at this fun and flamboyant hotel. The bedspreads sport bright flamingoes, while the Spanish-style windows are adorned with painted shutters and potted plants. Bright green and red colors are reminiscent of tropical Mexico. The hotel is near the Design Center and PacBell Park, making it popular with businesspeople in town for conventions. The 38 nonsmoking rooms would be fairly standard were it not for a few nice touches. Along with refrigerators and voice mail, you’ll find fresh-cut flowers and Nintendo 64 video games. The staff is extremely friendly, and complimentary breakfast comes with your stay. Free parking is a bonus in this not-so-car-friendly city. If you don’t have wheels, there’s a courtesy shuttle to Union Square. |
