| This handsome and eccentric little hotel is just minutes from Union Square. It carries on in the style of a traditional British hotel, with a staff that strives to make each guest feel individually welcome. The small, attractive, ground floor lobby is shared with the neighboring Post Street Theater. As for the rooms, they don't start until the fifth floor. Renovated in 2008, the 92 chambers are furnished with mahogany furnishings, soft accents in rich jewel tones and a flat screen TV. Small baths are done in marble and brass. Eleven upgraded Royal Court floor rooms have special bedding, coffee makers, CD alarm clock radios, robes and slippers. Complimentary coffee, tea and croissants are served around the clock on the ninth floor. In the late afternoon, guests gather around the lobby piano for tea and sherry. There's a somewhat new fitness center on the fifth floor. Pat Kuleto's restaurant, Farallon, adjoins the hotel on the ground level. Complimentary high-speed Internet access is included with the room rate. |
